Bliotschomórtas na mBunscoileanna / Primary School Blitz 2025 
A huge go raibh maith agat to all the schools that participated in our second annual Bliotschomórtas na mBunscoileanna, held in Páirc na Croíse Naofa, Áit Tí Chathail on the 7th of March.
It was truly heartwarming to see over 210 páistí out on the pitch, not only playing GAA but also using their Gaeilge socially with one another. With 18 teams from 10 different local schools, it was a busy and vibrant day for the club!
We were delighted to witness the progress each school has made in fostering the Irish language within their communities. Maith sibh!
We hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did, and with the continued support of Glór na nGael and FSMD, we are optimistic about making this an annual event. A special thank you to them for funding this initiative, along with additional support from Conradh na Gaeilge Ciste Spreagtha.
We would also like to express our gratitude to Gaelscoil & Naíscoil na mBeann and Cairde Naíscoil agus Bhunscoil Bheanna Boirche and Bunscoil an Iúir for attending and serving as Irish language ambassadors — showing the children how Gaeilge can be used naturally in any social setting and inspiring them to continue their language journey.
A huge thanks to St Malachy’s High School and St Louis Kilkeel for collaborating with us and giving their A Level Irish students the opportunity to engage in the language throughout the day, with many stepping up to referee matches brilliantly.
Finally, we extend our appreciation to The Mourne Observer for their fantastic media coverage, and to CnaG Boirche Íochtar for their invaluable support in organizing the event.
